International Justice Mission Report: The State of Violence Against Women and Girls in Zambia

The State of Violence Against Women & Children in Zambia report is a comprehensive look at the current situation in Zambia, based on extensive research by the International Justice Mission and informed by local partners and organizations, including The Kukhoma Project. It illuminates the cultural norms, gender imbalances, and power dynamics that create an environment where violence against women and girls is accepted.

The data from the report is staggering—for example, child marriage rates in Zambia are 31.4% for girls—and underscores the importance of our work to create cultural change. 

The report also highlights the cultural practices that make sexual violence so prevalent in Zambia, as well as the barriers that make prevention and progress so difficult.
