TKP February 2024 News

Dear Friends,

Thank you for being part of our community. Your continued partnership helps us walk with our girls through every hurdle and challenge—providing them with healing and hope as they build futures marked by victory.

As we look to the year ahead, we’re as committed as ever to supporting the girls in our house and advocating for cultural change—helping to build a society that values the lives of women and girls. With your help, we are making a real difference for the entire community.

Thank you for your support and prayers as we carry out our mission. We can’t do it without you.

With gratitude,

Amanda Switzer

Prayers Needed for Zambia

As we shared last week, Zambia is in the middle of a serious cholera outbreak. We are so grateful to everyone who has donated to help us purchase supplies for our community.

So many of our neighbors need support right now. If you haven't already, will you make a gift today to help address their most pressing needs?

Here is what your gift today can do:

  1. $5 gives a person soap and hand sanitizer to keep themself healthy

  2. $25 gives a sick family a two-week course of oral rehydration salts

  3. $75 gives food for a month to a family whose primary breadwinner has died or is too sick to work

  4. $100 gives a case of chlorine and disinfectant spray that healthcare workers will use to disinfect water and areas throughout the community

Your gift of any amount can make a powerful difference for our community. Thank you for helping combat this crisis with us.

Please continue to pray for healing for those affected and a quick end to the outbreak.

Community Outreach

In addition to our residential program at the TKP house, our community program is growing! Our team is working tirelessly to provide residents of rural communities with avenues for reporting—using the radio and other means to increase awareness.

Last fall, an anonymous caller reached out to the hotline and reported a case of abuse. Thanks to this call, the TKP team was able to rescue a 14-year-old girl from a child marriage. These awareness programs are so powerful, and we are grateful that they are amplifying the conversation around gender-based violence in our community.  We estimate that we served over 1,000 victims of gender-based violence last year.

Thank you for supporting this important work!

Celebrating our Scholars

We had two girls write their national exams last year! This is a huge milestone for any student in Zambia, and it's an incredible cause for celebration for our girls who have faced enormous educational obstacles as they fought to stay in school. They scored very well and we are so proud of them.

This year, we’re excited to enroll another two girls in school for a total of four scholars under our roof. Please pray for a positive school year for them!

One More Thing

There are so many small actions you can take to support our girls! In each newsletter we'll share one thing you can do to advocate for moms and babies in Zambia.

This month, we invite you to support TKP by including us in your prayers. Set a phone alarm to go off at the same time every day to remind yourself to pray for The Kukhoma Project, our girls, and our babies. Thank you!

Thank you for being part of our TKP community!
