Updates from The Kukhoma Project - October 2025
After spending the last year on the ground in Zambia, I’m back in the United States and more inspired than ever by what God is doing through The Kukhoma Project.
Whether you've prayed, given, shared our story, or cheered us on from afar, you’ve been part of every moment. And as we look ahead to the end of the year, I’d love the chance to reconnect with you.
We’re planning several end-of-year gatherings, including our upcoming event in Chicagoland, From Our Home to Yours: An Inside Look at What’s Happening in Zambia.
Register your spot and plan to join us on Monday, November 17, from 6:00-7:30 pm at The Chapel Palatine.
If you're interested in attending or hosting a gathering of your own, I’d love to send you more info. I can’t wait to see so many of you in person and share stories of the impact you’ve helped make possible!
Keep reading below for exciting updates, including our new monthly giving community, Kukhoma Rising, and a recap of our most impactful clay shoot yet.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Amanda Switzer
Introducing Kukhoma Rising: A New Way to Make a Lasting Impact
When people come together with compassion and courage, lives are transformed. That’s the heart behind Kukhoma Rising—our new monthly giving community.
This isn’t just another giving program. It’s a movement. A growing circle of individuals, couples, and families who believe that young girls in Zambia—survivors of unthinkable abuse—still deserve a future full of healing, hope, and possibility.
With a monthly gift of $30 or more, you’ll help provide safe housing, counseling, discipleship, community programs, and life-changing medical care.
Together, we’re rewriting what’s possible for these young girls. Learn more and join Kukhoma Rising at thekukhomaproject.org/rising >>
Welcoming Zambia’s Former First Lady: Dr. Kaseba Sata
In August, we had the honor of welcoming Zambia’s former First Lady, Dr. Kaseba Sata, to The Kukhoma Project! She spent time with our staff and girls, where she listened, shared her story, and spoke words of encouragement that deeply moved us all.
Dr. Sata opened up about her journey as a doctor and leader, inspiring our girls to be courageous, resilient, and faithful in rewriting their own stories. She closed her visit with a donation of food and a fun photo session.
Fourth Annual Looking Up Sporting Clays Tournament
Thank you to everyone who supported our fourth annual Looking Up Sporting Clays Tournament! The day was full of friendly competition, celebration, and real impact for the girls and babies in Zambia we serve.
With your generosity, we raised an incredible $70,000! Please join us in giving a special shout-out and thank you to our amazing event co-hosts, NAIOP NTX, as well as our volunteers and event committee.
You can view photos from the tournament at thekukhomaproject.org/lu-gallery >>
Plus, save the date! Next year’s tournament will take place on September 16, 2026. Mark your calendar—we can’t wait to see you there!
Empowering Families Through Financial Literacy
We recently partnered with the team at Indo Zambia Bank to host our first-ever financial literacy workshop for the parents and guardians of the girls in our program.
Together, we explored key financial topics designed to equip families with practical tools for everyday life, including:
What a bank account is—and why it matters
Smart strategies for saving money
Types of bank accounts and their benefits
The importance of budgeting and building healthy financial habits
Throughout the session, parents were encouraged to start small: create a household budget, save modest amounts, and collaborate with our team to continue strengthening their families and community.
Huge thanks to our friends and partners at Indo Zambia Bank for investing in our girls’ families and empowering them toward a brighter future.
Lots of Changes in the TKP House!
Just last week, we welcomed our 20th girl to the TKP House—a powerful reminder of both the ongoing need and the hope your support brings. Each girl represents a unique story of resilience and healing, and we’re honored to walk alongside her.
Last month also brought the birth of our first baby girl since 2020! After a long stretch of boys, we’re thrilled to welcome this little one into our TKP family.
Earlier this year, two of our girls reached a major milestone as they reintegrated into their homes and communities. Please join us in praying that they would continue to thrive and shine brightly as they settle into this next chapter of their lives.
