Updates From The Kukhoma Project - April 2025
In case you missed it—we’ve officially moved into The Kukhoma Project’s permanent home! We recently celebrated TKP’s 6th anniversary on our brand-new property, and we’re still in awe of how far we’ve come since our doors first opened.
With our very own land and custom-designed facilities, we can offer even more stable, secure, and consistent care for the girls and babies we serve. Our new home base also strengthens our ability to connect with the local community, making it easier for our team to reach out and serve our neighbors with compassion and care.
We are so grateful for every prayer, donation, partnership, and message of encouragement that helped make this vision a reality. Thank you for investing in the future of The Kukhoma Project and giving us a place to call home for years to come.
Community Outreach: Bringing Hope to the Chongwe District
Last month, The Kukhoma Project team partnered with Nangwenya Clinic to support over 400 women in a rural community in the Chongwe District. During our visit, we distributed baby clothes and toys while also leading an essential discussion on child abuse prevention, sparking meaningful conversations about protecting vulnerable children.
Our social worker’s report captured the clinic’s deep appreciation for the donations: “The clinic was very grateful to receive the baby clothes and toys which are key to help those who come without any clothes due to poverty, lack of support from their partners, abuse, and many other factors. The clinic expressed that the toys were so important for them, especially the special children who come for physiotherapy will be using them for entertainment whenever they visit the clinic.”
Beyond providing material aid, our outreach reinforced the importance of speaking up for children’s safety. One powerful reflection came from Chesu, a local community member, who shared:
“We tend to take cases to the traditional leaders, even taking bribes, forgetting that the person we harm most is a child. What if that child has been sexually harassed and has been infected with various diseases? Then at the clinic you go and lie that the child hurt themselves like yesterday. Let’s learn to tell the truth to ensure that our children are safe.”
This initiative was a reminder that real change begins with awareness and accountability. Thank you for being part of our mission to create a safer future for children!
